Nitrate contamination is difficult to remove once it is in the water, so environmental monitoring is critical to help manage mitigation strategies and understand the impact of weather - particularly around peak nitrate release events.

Designed for regulatory compliance and water quality monitoring, the HydroMetrics GW50™ optical nitrate sensor provides direct, reagent-free measurement of total nitrate. It ensures accurate, real-time data for assessing nutrient pollution, tracking nitrate discharge, and meeting water quality standards without the need for expensive sample collection or lab analysis.

HydroMetrics offers four variants of the GW50™ to meet different environmental monitoring needs:

    1. The HydroMetrics GW50™ nitrate sensor is designed for installation within a water body or well.
    2. The HydroMetrics GW50PC™ nitrate sensor is designed for installation within a water body or well where regular cleaning is not possible. The Water-Jet™ cleaning system on this sensor can be configured to pump water through the measurement cell on a regular cycle.
    3. The HydroMetrics GW50FC™ nitrate sensor is designed for situations where a suitable bore is not available to install a nitrate sensor. Water can be pumped from the water source and piped directly through the measurement cell in this sensor.    
    4. The HydroMetrics Portable GW50™ nitrate sensor is designed for situations where multiple field measurements are taken in different locations. The water sample is collected and placed directly in the measurement cell of this sensor and the on-board control module activates the sensor and records a nitrate reading.
